New Clinic in Sheffield Opens

Holywell Healthcare has teamed up with Accelerate to bring an amalgamation of clinical experience and knowledge of running footwear. We have a clinic now running from the Accelerate store in Attercliffe in Sheffield. This clinic is offering sports massage/soft tissue therapy with Jackie Robson and Podiatry/biomechanical assessments with Colin Papworth. We know that the right shoe will make a huge difference to rehabilitation and injury prevention, as well as improving performance. Now Holywell staff have access to Accelerate stock and staff and the team at Accelerate now have an in-house therapy team to direct patients to. We are often finding a group approach to shoe choice and biomechanics discussions going on, with you, the customer, having input from all parties.
Also Holywell Healthcare now has a base in Sheffield so we can see you there for biomechanical assessments and soft tissue sports massage. We shall be offering physiotherapy in the near future. We are very excited about this new clinic and feel that it provides all parties with access to a wide range of knowledge that can be shared. New Surgeon appointed

We are also pleased to announce that we have been joined by Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, Mr Tony Wilkinson, who is heading up our Podiatric Surgery department. Tony brings a wealth of experience with regards to foot surgery and is available for private consultations with regard to your bunions, hammer toes, neuroma and anything else to do with your feet that you feel may  benefit from surgery. All assessments and operations are carried out at Chesterfield in our dedicated operating theatre. Foot surgery has come along way over the last few years and now with local anaesthetics and minimal incision procedures the norm recovery and outcomes are vastly improved. Holywell Staff and Elite Sport

Two of our sports therapists John Freeman and Derry Suter have both recently been involved in helping our elite athletes perform to their best. John was working with the GB divers in Rome in the recent world championships and Derry works closely with Jessica Ennis who won the Heptathlon Gold medal at the world championships in Berlin last month.

Festival of Running

At Holywell Healthcare on Sunday 18th October 2009 we are holding a day dedicated to running. This will involve short talks from our therapists and the staff at Accelerate regarding all aspects of running; from correct shoes and equipment, injury treatment, injury prevention and training techniques. You will also be able to talk to the staff on a one to one basis about any issues you feel you may have. The day will run from 11.00 to 4.00pm. We feel that this day will be beneficial for all levels of running, so if you are just starting out or moving up the distances or looking at making it into elite level then we have something for you.
